Re: Robust - or just BUST ?

Ha! Presented with incontrovertable data that Intel's Northwood runs at the ragged edge of thermal failure, all you can come up with is a post from some guy who probably has a bad memory DIMM in his machine.

P4's typically run close to 50C, and have a max die temp of 62C to 72C - and those systems tested were in resonably cool rooms, they hadn't had time for their heatsinks to get clogged with dust, and they weren't crammed under the corner of someone's desk.

In a year or two, when their fans are turning a little slower, and junk has clogged up the heatsinks, we can expect to see a lot of problems from P4. AMD's Athlon's typically have 100% more thermal headroom than P4. Even 3 or 4 years down the road, the Athlons will be doing fine.
