DJ DUTCH PRESS: Pension Funds Move To Stem Short Selling

AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--The Netherlands' two largest pension funds, ABP and PGGM, have decided to stop lending securities to hedge funds in a bid to dampen market volatility, Jean Frijns of ABP Vermogensbeheer said, Het Financieele Dagblad reports.
The two funds hope the move will discourage short-selling and have written to other institutional investors in the Netherlands and abroad advising them to follow suit.
