John, you do realize that when Republicans and Independents refer to the 'Left', they are talking about the Democratic Party, not the Greens? As you say, I rest my case. The minute this incarnation of the Republican party gains the franchise on defining left-right in American politics we are all in deep doodoo (as some famous, sort of, American politician once said). The Rep leadership is clearly not simply right but radical right. My guess is they think McCain is left. Time to forget about this argument until some other event brings it to the fore.
