You don't suppose AMD took a look at the already shipping 333mhz motherboards using already shipping chipsets from VIA and NVidia and said "OK let's go ahead and take credit for it".

You might note that this is one case where they're following an Intel precedent. VIA was shipping a 533mhz FSB chipset solution long before Intel had any official support for it.

Beemer, those are all valid. But I don't know that they're any more valid than AMD needing to beef up revenues for the next few quarters - since Hammer has been delayed, and P4 is scaling better than AMD had first expected.

Just my opinion, and currently I do own INTC and not AMD.

wbmw, Not at all, If Intel is going to have a long lived celeron, what better for AMD to have than a celeron killer.
The various iterations and improvements of the Athlon will serve to keep the celeron down in the mud.
