Given how far Sharon went, versus the public story put out while the operation was ongoing, I'm somewhat hesitant to ask what "being allowed to complete it" means. He did get to install a Gemayel, was there some big ethnic cleansing operation in the works, before that phrase entered the vocabulary? Funny thing, Nadine. I went looking for casualty figures from that operation, they're a little hard to come by. Not for Israel of course, though I imagine most of those came in the occupation phase. I found one vague reference to 15k Lebanese civilians, but the official sources all seem to be pretty mute. Must be that liberal biased media thing. As official local font of Mideast knowledge, you wouldn't happen to have any sources on that one, would you? Or is this a "don't ask, don't tell" thing?
