I see China's Cultural Revolution as one awful attempt to break with the past, following on the civil war, and all the wars before that, going back a few hundred years. I know that history is a connected whole, and thus was suspecting that the rest of the world's history is same, without beginning, and having no end:0/

Eurozone is an attempt to break with the past, quite a gentle experiment so far, but may still be thrown off course for any number of reasons (I would guess a civilization war would do it), and deserves attention.
