Feel free to disagree with both my analysis, and my conclusions, but I stand by them... and I think recent history tends to support my conclusions.

Is the 'Iraq problem' solved? The 'Iran problem'? Is our position in the middle east on sounder footing than ever?

As a result of all our short-sighted and self defeating interventions in the area, is democracy breaking out all over? Free markets?

You can argue that if we hadn't done what we did things would be worse than they are now (hard to see that), and I'm free to argue that things would have been better if we'd pursued a more hard-nosed and realistic foreign policy... more in tune with our fundamental national values.

Supporting the 'Dictator of the month' has not proven to be very smart politics. If we don't push what our REAL national values are, then we are working against our own interests.

And that's not very smart.
