Dresdner is the house bank of Allianz (118- today...Jeeze). What I think of it? I dont think they got far on the road of thinking and acting big (like GS, JPM, whatever). Actually they failed at least once the reality check and got burnt. So it's an after-the-humble-pie-experience kind of a bank.

They definitely do not play big time the derivatives game - from where I sit, I see much of CitiBank and then 2nd tier players, like GS and such. Pls note my view is rather skewed

Hello Selva, I believe the supposed articles by FT are hoaxes, because they come across as too breathless. Also, I subscribe to FT on line and would not have missed these articles.

(a) I trust the system to the extent that I have 6% of my NAV in physical precious metal; after which I do not much care what happens, because if C or JPM or my bank HSBC blows up, I would imagine my physical stuff is then priced up. Also, I do spread my money amongst three large institutions.

(b) I think one still needs to have a basket of currencies, metals being one of the many:

(c) Cut budget, sell off unnecessary second homes, re-balance amongst all assets, emphasizing none, look for active income opportunities, even if one is retired, because the current depression just got started and could be in place for quite some time:

P.S. One more thing, be in a position to pay down all debt, but do not do so.
