"Dell, in cooperation with Microsoft and Intel, announced an agreement to give the Cornell Theory Center $60 million worth of Dell servers over four years."

a judge in a civil case decided that $1billion in free computers to schools wasn't nearly enough from MSFT for their violations of "common sense" i mean anti-trust laws.............

imagine how many schools they can supply at $60 million a pop, for say $3 billion in final settlements..... every state in the union's state universities....

course, you get what you pay for...... but maybe we can educate a few more hackers with this stuff...... can always use a few more hackers.....

(course the judge is going to make it so the schools can choose WHICH computers to buy) so maybe the smarter schools will choose some good equipment....

Study: Linux sales down, but not out

Linux sales lost some ground to Windows last year, but are expected to climb in coming years as distributors of the alternative operating system create new revenue streams.

According to market research firm IDC, Linux sales declined nearly 5 percent in 2001 to $80 million...

...Gillen said. "On the second day of January, Microsoft had generated more operating system revenue than the Linux community (will for the entire year)."
