Oh. Well. Tiger learned golf on Stanford's courses. Not a public university, but a university course nevertheless. He didn't learn on the Pebble Beach courses. And he didn't demand that he should, either. That "starvation" bit depends on just how tight a grip a union has. If you're a longshoreman, you'd best learn to like unions. Even if you know your dues are supporting overpaid goons. It's not because of any lack of effort or desire on the part of unions that jobs exist that don't require membership.
