Brian, Nasdaq vs VIX bigcharts.marketwatch.com

Note the double spike in VIX? Must be better than a single one. I didn't use vxn, the Nasdaq volatility index, because data goes back only 1 1/2 years on that site.

Brian,

Just a quick input on the issue. I just finished listening to CSCO's conference call when Chambers addressed the issue as a result of one of the questions(About 1 and 1/2 hours into the conference call).

He pointed out that last year when they gave options, the cost to the company was about 3.5B(that's B as in Billion) - today those options if exercised would cost approximately 150M(that's M as in Million). Clearly, to have expensed the options last year would have been an overkill. Nobody knows what the true cost will be until the options are exercised or expired.
