We get an awful lot of posts here from people who do not want us to move on Saddam that suggest that we who do, are some sort of evil warmongers. Sorry Bill, "evil warmonger" are your words. My point is, don't be shortsighted on this. There is zero support in the ME for waging war against Iraq. They live there, they don't view him as a threat. If we attack, we will definitely be attacked. Will there be world sympathy for us then? I can't say, but people should realize that this war is NOT inevitable. There's still time to avoid it and the horror of the repercussions which will surely follow.

OT LindyBill, I initially misread this from your post:

"FL is after those of us here who favor action to tone down our rhetoric. I think the real toning down needs to be done by those who favor us not taking action" Since FL moderates this thread, I defer to him.

Good post. Remember Krauthammer's words "Conservatives think Liberals are stupid. Liberals think Conservatives are evil." Also liberals believe that War is Bad, which it is, but they believe this axiomatically, War is Always the Worst Possible Option.

So it's nearly impossible for liberals (here I refer to left-liberals, those whom even Johm M would call "liberal" and not "moderate"), to believe or admit, even to themselves, that the neocons are reacting to a perceived level of threat, though in a manner that they must regard as deeply mistaken. They need to think that neocons either just want war for a) general macho reasons, b) more profit for the military-industrial complex, or c) to make money on oil, either by serving the House of Saud or by conquering them, take your pick.

Frankly, it would help if we all did. Moreover, I'm about to run out of clever things to say to Hawk. ;-)))

Not exactly...I want EVERYONE to tone down the rudeness factor...or else.
