Monte Montgomery's résumé is impressive. He's gotten four consecutive nods at the Austin Music Awards as best acoustic guitarist and he's appeared on "Austin City Limits." And he's having a great year with the release of his third album, "Wishing Well," which encompasses his talents as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. This weekend he's celebrating his 36th birthday -- actually Sunday -- with gigs at Antone's tonight and Saturday. Both will be recorded for a live CD. Montgomery began his career as a lad, opening for his mother, Maggie, who started him on the six-string by sitting him on her lap to strum with his right hand while she played chords with her left. Guitar One magazine rates him one of the 10 best undiscovered guitarists in America.
