It really works slick! I've done it with the older kids when they turned 10...Their present is $50 for becomming 10, they go with me for the afternoon, I buy lunch (not out of their money), they pick within their allowed money, learn that "things don't grow on trees"....etc...all those days are special memories. It sure beats saying no to the want of a Nike shirt (that starts at $70), or Michael Jordan air shoes (starting at $170), etc etc etc.... But the beautiful thing about it is I get to spend some time with them, and they think it is fun (or at least humor me that it is....<g>)
