FWIW....I've used NT for about 2 years now with my trading platform and multiple ICQ's and messengers open and have never had to reboot or had a crash......and I rarely shut down my puter.....

once in a great while it will slow up and I will shut down just to clean out the cobwebs....

if I use a machine for trading, I will always us NT.

Thanks.

Evidentally there's a known bug in '98 that prevents the machine from being shut down which messes around with the FATs. Have to upgrade and haven't heard much good about XP. But I guess we're all going to have to face the inevitable. MSN is going to stop supporting everything except XP.

Well I went out and bought XP over the weekend from BBY. Tried installing it. You gotta love MSN. If anyone is going to get this economy moving again, it's them.

I got 5 pages of notes on all the software and hardware that's incompatible with XP. This includes my printers, scanner, keyboard, DSL modem, USB ports, COM ports, CD burner software, DVD controller, sound and video cards and a whole bunch of other stuff.

The directions were that I had to contact all the manufactures of the hardware and software and get the upgrades from them. Basically, that means start all over again. Buy a new computer and buy all new software to be compatible with XP.
