All those links, best I can tell, relate to The New Yorker story on this same topic.

No John.. actually ALL of those stories, including the New Yorker, relate to the issue being discussed.

The New Yorker just apparently related the information first.

And I'm not about to start trying to play "good" Al-Qaeda from bad ones (or at least ones who may not have played a direct hand in attacking the US). There simply has to be a bit of "black and white" here since their goal is the same, creation of Islamic states that seek the destruction of all Western societies by ANY means necessary, including suicide (martyrdom).

I don't care if they are perpetrating terrorism on Kurds, Phillipinos, Indonesians, or Israelis. They are the enemy whether some people are willing to recognize that or not.

Permitting one of the world's dominate religions to fall under the tyranny of extremists guarantees that millions of Americans, Europeans, and Asians, are going to die needlessly at some point in the future. And possibly in a manner that will include biological or chemical means. (and I would state a similar position were Catholicism or the protestant churches to start advocating "Crusade" and committing suicide attacks).

Where do you see something that I don't see?

They are there, and apparently the Kurds see something you don't see because they are preparing to take offensive action to root them out:

observer.co.uk (and that ain't drawn from the "New Yorker" article.

And this one:

puk.org

Thus, it doesn't matter what you or I see, it's what the Kurds see, and the evidence that Baghdad is providing them safe haven.
