Well, I guess I am just in the mood to take perceived swipes at the importance of religion seriously.

I am not always in that mood, and don't take it personally.

I hear so much about the harm that religion does, and how wrong it is to allow it to creep into government ... and so little about the good that it does. When you get kids to go to church in the USA, that is customarily going to mean a Christian church. And when kids are taken there, they are going to hear a message of good will, tolerance, and morality. That can only be for their good.

And what if Jerry Falwell is preaching? Well, morality has no meaning if we cannot identify immorality. We can disagree about what are appropriate examples of the latter, but getting kids to recognize that there is such a thing is what counts.
