Ted, Re: <well, D. Ray doesn't think he was so bad.>(Talking about Nixon)

Yes he does. (IMO) Ask him what he thinks of Nixon out of the context of Clinton && I'll bet you he thinks Nixon was a bum.

I'd bet he would, maybe, even rank Carter over Nixon.(Though I doubt he would for LBJ. I certainly wouldn't.)

Not to get harsh, but Nixon was a bum in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

He had 20+ years of practice before he got so disgusting the congress got ready to throw him out.

I think Carter was a sincere, intelligent guy trying to do 'the right thing' in an extremely tough position. ( Other opinions may vary.) He just didn't do the right thing.

And I doubt David would disagree a whole lot with that.

But there were a whole lot of folks, not much older than I at the time, who thought Nixon, despite lying to the public, press, and congress was an OK president. Certainly better than all them dirty dope smokin' hippys that'd let all of Asia fall to the communists.

'Love it or leave it.' And one It was the United States, the other was Nixon's policies.

Oh, I remember those times.
