we haven't done a helluva lot to improve the human condition

Speaking for the human condition right here in the United States, we have:

And on the international scene we have:

1. Two devastating world wars.
2. Stalin killing untold numbers of peasants and compatriots.
3. Hitler killing untold numbers of Jews and political opponents.
4. The bombings of civilians at Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and Dresden.
5. Pol Pot's slaughtering.
6. Some untold numbers slaughtered in Indonesia.

I've just started the list.
