OT the woman who ran over her husband, and that other one from years back who stole into her husband and new wife's home and shot them to death, are psychotic. Firing squads are generally comprised of several so that no one person carries the burden of responsibility.

You might wish to take a look at the Yale experiments of Stanley Millgram in the late 40s and 50s. They suggest, given the right conditions, we are all capable of horrific things.
