You're saying the opposite of what I was told by the guys over on CL, including mr. mark. I was told that if I was very careful never to open them up, they would "know" somehow, through the miracle of technology, that mine was a dead em address, and I'd be dropped from their stupid lists. I set up my Outlook Express so that I can't even preview the unsolicited ems in the bottom of the window, just to be extra careful, and it has seemed to diminish the number. But it's like a virus mutating and getting more and more powerful -- those who send the spam get more and more clever about tricking you into opening the stuff. This is what was in my inbox when I got back this evening. The sender was autoreply@yahoo.com The subject was one you would HAVE to look at, "message undeliverable." But here's the text: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey there :) Remember me? Its me Amanda!!! I was chatting with you last week but we never got a chance to finish our conversation. I promised you I'd send you a few pictures of myself so you could see what I look like. I hope you like them, I made them extra naughty just for you :) ENJOY Enter Here big boy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (The "enter here big boy" is a hot link. I mean, a live one. Well, you know what I mean.) That has nothing whatever to do with "message undeliverable" and it doesn't even pretend to. All they wanted to do was make the recipient open the mail. I wish I'd saved mr. mark's explanation of how they know whether their recipients' addresses are dead, and should thus be deleted from their list, or not. I get lots of offers to remortgage my house. Also, do you know that I could earn a hundred thousand a year by working from home two to three hours a week? There are many such opportunities. Also, if I'm so inclined, I can find out everything about everybody. Why I would want to they neglected to make clear.
