The Saudis are already fundamentalist. They are just careful about the image they project because they like $$$.

I think an increase in terrorism plus guerilla warfare in Iraq is a more likely negative scenario.
Seems to me like that is quite enough. Guerilla warfare kept us tied down in Vietnam for 20 years. We played that card back at the Soviets in Afghanistan and the Soviet Empire fell.

If they cut off the oil they start starving.
In spite of that, that's precisely what they did in 1973. And starving is likely to be an overstatement. Life could get considerably rougher for them, but their leaders can blame that on us and call on the people to sacrifice for the greater glory of Allah. That could be less of a problem than you think. If dictators don't have an enemy, they often invent one. Here we're kind enough to suplly them with a real one.
