Ignoring gov'ts and oil matters, the military aspects of an Iraq invasion could get quite sticky. I suspect there would be LOTS of volunteers for suicide missions against the US and its troops if we invaded. And even if they tried (and they probably wouldn't- -not very hard, anyway) the gov'ts over there probably couldn't stop their citizens from getting involved.

Remember Lebanon? Multiply that by 100,000. Now you've got a problem.

Reports are that Saddam learned from the Gulf War. His army isn't going to be sitting out in open country giving our A10's juicy taregets. It's going toi be in the cities. They'll just let us take the land outside the cities and do as we please. We'll still have to go into the cities to defeat them- -and face block-to-block, room-to-room fighting in a situation where much of the help technology can offer is blunted. And in a situation where those fanatics from all over the Arab world can be put to maximum usefulness.
