I recall one of the first images posted by one of the major networks showed Palestinians dancing in the streets. Later it was discovered the network had used file footage.

No, the network was CNN and it was the 'file footage' story that was the hoax; the film was new; CNN stood by its story. There were several large pro bin Laden rallies (> 1000 people) in Gaza and the West Bank, but Arafat suppressed the footage of them, so only footage from East Jerusalem actually made it onto TV. Israel Radio covered the rallies, however. For that matter, the Palestinians are marching in Gaza today, shouting "Dear Saddam, please bomb Tel Aviv".

IMO we should not characterize the many by the actions of the radicals in a society.

Do you include the "radicals" in the Saudi Air Force in Prince Sultan Air Base?

The US does not have a balanced foreign policy in the Middle East.

It didn't do us much good when we did. In 1967 we didn't supply Israel and we were scrupulously evenhanded in being for the territorial integrity of every nation in the region. Then Nasser and King Hussein announced that they only lost the war because the US Sixth Fleet was fighting for Israel. This was a Big Lie but the whole Arab world believed it and turned against us and even more towards the USSR.
