Don; I am a building contractor and I buy very little from either one. I get my lumber from lumber yards, my windows & siding from siding supply houses, my blocks & bricks from brickyards,etc.. A do-it-yourselfer may have the time to deal with them, but I need instant delivery by people that know their stuff! If the housing market dried up today I don't think it would kill either company, although it would hurt HD more than LOW as they are more contractor oriented. The guy that fixes his own sink, puts up his own fence, mows his own lawn, and paints his own house is the guy that makes these places tick! That's where the margin is, and it's not as cyclical as the homebuilding trade. BTW, LOW stock more than doubled last year. I doubt either stock will see the 60's again anytime soon because the lower pe ratios will have them splitting in in 40's or low 50's. JMHO cb
