re.. "who may have the balls to attack Iraq if thousands of Russian experts inundate Iraq like Egypt in pre 73 days"

Exactly what i implied. All this may accelerate Bsh's plans if he perceives his window of opportunity shrinking.

The Russians snubbed their nose at Saudi Arabia's advances, as well they should, since Saudi money has found its way to Chechnya.

The Russians have moved several ships from their Baltic and Black Sea fleets to the Caspian. They are building a new missile ship for use on the Caspian and have moved an anti-missile base from the Baltic coast to the Caspian coast. The halt in construction of Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant by Russia signals Russia's intent to stay pro-Western and to take on the Iranians for the rights to the Caspian oil. Russia has struck deals with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan over Caspian resources making Iran's flexing of its muscle in the region impotent. Iran is almost completely surrounded by pro-Western factions. Except for one, ...Iraq.

Russia is just one part of this conflict and has proven their interest in remaining friends with the US as well as opening greater trade avenues for their oil so I do not see Russia forming any alliance that would hinder their intent on improving trade. Instead, let's concentrate on the Islamic problem for a moment.

There are 5 reasons for the empowerment of the Islamic radicals which have led to where we are today:

the 1973 Oil Embargo;

Saddam Hussein retaining power in Iraq after the Gulf War;

the USSR's defeat in Afghanistan;

the US pullout of Somalia;

and the September 11, 2001 attack.

All these events have progressively emboldened the radicals of Islam toward militarism. One of these events can be reversed and used to stifle this feeling of invincibility, ...Iraq.

Toppling Hussein at this time would have a demoralizing effect on the radicals as well as an example to surrounding nations of the benefits of a Democratic society in which the average person could flourish and prosper instead of the congregation of wealth into a few hands.
