Ashcroft is ufb, of course, but isn't the guy who appointed him the real constitutional menace?

Otherwise, a good piece ...

You mention "Houston of all places" (I gather it's kind of conservative down there - g) ... is the Chronicle the local left wing rag, or is this a sign that tv nation might be starting to wake up?

Way to go Houston! Expose Ashcroft for what he is: narrowminded and fixated on eliminating our liberty and civil rights. Boy what a scary guy! I can only hope our judicial system reigns this guy in.

Edit: I used to live in Houston for 12yrs till recently. The chronicle is the only main paper in town, and is very conservative. So I think this is a good sign of growing public skepticism if the Chronicle ran this piece.

a suggestion from Dr Goebels - it would be wise to point out, that the proposed camp plan will also (actually it's a good idea, make it "first of all"!) protect the dangerous elements from the rightful anger of the nation.

("Schutzhaft", by-word translation "protection custody", introduced in 1933, the starting point for ... oh man .. for all the horror that followed)
