Yes, Terry, I like your NASCAR analogy.

However, I'm not sure about this bit, "The world wants us to drive faster so the motor will cool off."

The way I see it, both the fanbelt and the clutch are slipping --- the power is not being transferred to the wheels or to the fan. Filling up at the last pitstop didn't help. Now there's all that extra fuel on board to carry. Although the engine is up to 4000 revs, the car is slowing and getting hotter. Could be the motor is beginning to seize. Maybe it will --- going up the next hill.

What's that awful, screeching noise?
