I would opine that, of course, we're going to assure our allies that we're going to eventually strike. But hopefully that will motivate and empower opposition elements in Iraq to undertake the most difficult portion of Saddam's overthrow in order to be able to claim they deserve to play some role in the post-Saddam government.

I truly hope we don't have to strike unilaterally, but unless we present such a determination to our allies and enemies alike, such statements will be seen as being as hollow as previous promises.

They seem to have a fairly clear and determined idea of the status of Taiwan.

Perhaps that is just a diplomatic gesture on the side of the Chinese?

It's amazing how Taiwan has become such an important slice of the world semiconductor manufacturing capacity in a few short years.
