The fact that Abu Nidal was living in Iraq was, I believe, common knowledge. The fact that hs is now dead is, of course, cause for rejoicing.

Abu Nidal.. Dead?? In Baghdad??

I thought that Saddam wasn't harboring terrorists?? Can anyone tell me that Saddam didn't know about Abu Nidal being in his country??

Btw, talk about being up to date.. FAS has already updated their webpage on Nidal recording his death:

fas.org

I would imagine he was told he had to leave Iraq, given current circumstances. And having no where that anyone would accept him, he decided to put a slug in his own skull.

But we'll likely never know if that's the truth, or what the authorities want us to believe.

But it's clear that his presence in Iraq was a liability to Saddam claiming he wasn't harboring terrorists.
