I can well remember when you got pissed at people like me for passing on the information I learned after Rillinois pissed me off with his discussion of the "True Brinker". I think Bob has evolved where he now pretty much knows nobody can time the market worth a damn so you just talk about it but make NO claims. Heck, he won't take a guess at if home prices will go up or down, bond rates will go up or down or even if the market is at a final bottom while pretending that the 27% VTSMX rally never happened after 9/11. The less you predict, the less wrong you will be and thus the more status you will have. Another radio show host, Roger Arnold, is posting and taking questions from his listeners on my site. Some of his fans suggested he be "less arrogant" and discuss his mistakes more and what he learned from them. He said his network really doesn't want him to talk about mistakes! Listeners want a god, not a human that learns as they go. I think it says you are right... shows aim for the lowest common denominator.... Brinker's show, without market timing, is actually quite good. He finally understands duration and actually gives a good explaination of it now (after we hammered him for botching it terribly a few weeks ago.) Without the market timing, his show really does educate people... it is just sickening that so many depend on him to tell them when to buy or sell... but that keeps listeners and the network seems very interested in promoting this false image. anyway, congratulations on your graduation!
