Ted I think he is not just trying to blast liberals I think he honestly believes it to be fact. If you think that just about any part of ideas of liberals are "a mess" then any president who supported them supported a mess and any president who couldn't push them through was a mess because he was ineffective.

I think he paints with too broad of brush and maybe it could be called unfair to liberals, I just don't think its slander.

Tim, first off, I don't think you need to put yourself in the position of defending Ray. I think he works real hard at being slanderous and confrontive, and its by intent, not by chance. Secondly, because he believes the comments he makes does not make them any less slanderous. Again, its the 'intent to malign' which defines slander and there is no question of Ray's intent.

If you said the same thing about conservatives I would say it was wrong and I would argue against it but I wouldn't call it slander. Your comment about conservatives not careing about children after they are born probably does amount to slander, IMO.

Actually, the comment was in response to his unceasing criticism of liberals. I find Ray's views fairly simplistic and easy to ignore but this repetitive trashing that has been going on for months now is intended only to annoy. I think he is frustrated because he can not convince some of us that his views are the right ones. You saw how quickly my repetitive posting of the UK party leader's negative Bush comments annoyed Ray........well, his 24/7 trashing of liberals prompts the same response from me.

Finally, I told TGP in a PM that Ray's attitudes as well as those of other conservatives plus the particulars of the 2000 election have caused me to become partisan in a way I have never been before. Up til now, I have viewed an elected official as someone who works for me and is subject to my criticism should he/she fukk up. I hardly have worried about party affiliations. Its only recently that I have run into a Ray or a Coulter or a Kudlow who are blindly loyal, mindlessly goose stepping partisans of the Rep. party.

The experience has not been a pleasant one........in fact, I have seen that that exposure is causing me to become irritable with spells of dry mouth, dizziness, and nausea, resulting in prolonged periods of projectile vomiting. I've learned that posts of Ray should not be read while eating or taking medication, and can result in an unnatural desire to watch hours of mind rotting, tv fluff, or playing with a gameboy. <g>
