George Cole - positions on IRAQ

I'd like to believe it's true as Wanniski believes: " Iraq is not a threat to the US and has nothing to do with terrorism. Iraq is perhaps the most secular Arab country
and a bitter opponent of Islamic fundamentalism."

Bush owes it to the nation (and the world) a showing of what he and the intelligence agencies have on IRAQ in the way of biological nuclear weapon development. Without that he seems to have a weakening case and support for military action.

I suspect the day will come tragically, however, when most of the non Islamic world will have wished America had taken action to dismantle both Iraq's leadership and weapons.

About that I hope I am wrong.

G Cole re: Saddam...

George while it is true that Saddam is an opponnet of fundamentalist/extremeist Islam... that is NOT the point.

He has joined forces with the extremist-terrorist groups to use HIS Oil Money and HIS bio & Nuclear programs as a supply source and will use the extremist-terrorist groups as the delivery vehicle - hopefully being able to retaliate against the US for the Gulf War invasion with the extremists taking the blame for the attacks.

There is no question that Saddam and Iraq are fundamental sponsors, suppliers and financiers of Anti-American Terrorism... this is beyond dispute.

Saddam is a meglomaniac and parallels to Hitler are not exaggerated. Taking him out is a necessity and it will send a powerfull message to any future "State Sponsored Terrorism"... and the Saudi's & Iranians will get the message loud & clear.

We need to make a significant part of Iraq, a very large and permanent US AirBase as well as out new STRATEGIC PETROLEUM RESERVE(vbg)... ie: sieze part of their oil fields as War Reparations...for rebuilding a democratic Iraq and maintain a permanent ME presence that will be paid for via permanently siezed Iraqi Oil.
