Hope it wasn't too boring.

The passages of life are never boring, X. A great deal of conversation between Mrs. D. and me concerns our reminiscing about raising six kids between us. We both went through the alternating joys and traumas of shepherding our children through their awakening to life, their gradual maturing, the crises of new school years, and endless other highs and lows, all the time asking yourself, am I doing this right?

The payoff comes much later when you (exhausted!) see them all doing fine, starting their own families, and about to go through the same things themselves.

Finally you know ... yes, somehow you must have gotten it right all those years.

I do wish the best ... but I know it will be the same for you and Mr. X in the end.

P.S. -- every one of our children was a "special need" child in some particular way ... and to this day, every one of them is a special need adult in some particular way ;-)
