Bush was to fly to Portland for a fund-raising dinner ... Another junket to get the taxpayers to pick up the tab for his campaign travels.

A cynic might say he wants to destroy the forests before fire does. Too bad for timber interests that he best places to thin may not be the best places to harvest. Maybe taking global warming seriously would lessen the severity of future droughts. I read recently that so far this year is the warmest on record. The next warmest was just a couple of years ago.
