Not hard to understand at all. We don't trust Bush. His friends are the loggers, not the environmentalists. Besides, he comes from TX, a state not know for conservation and concern with the environment. Your mistrust is misplaced. The Clinton administration totally mismanaged the situation for eight years; now we have someone taking positive, definitive action to help eliminate the loss of forests to these horrible fires. And the environmentalists are raising hell. The reality is it is all about politics. The environmentalists are liberals, and they don't want a mean old republican out-conserving the liberals.
