WBMW, Good work. The model number / performance scheme seems to be turning on the AMD marketing department. Either they tell the truth with the model number and show feeble performance improvement from the flagship processor, or they fudge the number and lose credibility with their enthusiast fan base. So they decide to "cook the books" on Modelhurtz. John

Either that, or AMD has changed the model ratings from comparing with RDRAM based systems, to comparing with DDR. Other reviews seem to indicate the 2600+ having a slight edge over the 2.53GHz Pentium 4 when using DDR. But again, it depends on the applications being used. Tom's Hardware has only one set of benchmarks out of many. AMD is comparing the Athlon XP to P4 with DDR on their web site amd.com^3750^3746,00.html This makes sense IMO, as probably 80-90% of the P4-based systems sold aren't equipped with RDRAM while AMD systems are almost always equipped with DDR, or what it was benched with.
