The problem with your suggestion is that putting 27 different securities in a model portfolio would make it unwieldy for a person to actually invest in it. The problem would be even worse for a newsletter like California Technology Stock Letter, which lists dozens of stocks.

A better idea would be to leave the model portfolios alone and base the advertised performance on an average of all securities recommended. Hulbert could easily publish a ranking based on this.
