What you really want is for Arafat to leave without outside pressure but that is only going to happen when he dies. I still wonder that Israel has left him alive and in Ramallah this long.

Actually, what I really want is not possible because of Israeli politics, not PA. And that's for the Israeli's to leave the West Bank and Gaza, settlements and all. That, over time, draws out the anger in the PA population; legitimizes mainstream PA (or some replacement) policing efforts; and marginalizes Hamas and the other one, whose name escapes me.

But that ain't going to happen. It's absence is part of the equation of loss of leadership. It's not just Arafat; it's all three.
