Have you ever considered that the US might use it's power to do good to try to achieve general peace in the mid-east. Sadaam was it's pal until the Gulf War - he could be again - but US political life seems driven by the need to have an external enemy and so it is now - keeps attention away from Enron, Haliburton and all those pesky things at home. And since 9/11 who notices that you've slipped rapidly into deficit - the public doesn't seem to have - and the name of the game is to keep whipping up nationalistic fervour for foreign adventures and misadventures. 'you can fool all of the people -----' - but for how long and where are the chicken livered Democrats in all of this?
