Saddam probably figures he can get away with it. He has for years and the rest of the world doesn't seem to be backing the idea of US military action against him.

Tim, he blew off the weapon inspectors well before it was clear what world opinion would be re an invasion. Furthermore, he saw what happened when he attacked Kuwait........he got pushed back. He saw what happened when bin Laden attacked the US. The US military might reared its ugly head.

With all the firepower and military we've pushed around in the last decade, and given the comments made by you and D.Ray, Saddam should be cowering in a corner rather than blowing off weapons' inspectors. If might makes right and US military action is this great deterrent, why are we still having trouble with Saddam?
