Don't get caught with that. Coins value is oz. weight less smelter's fee, less quantity discount, less negociated discount.
Unless you go for collectibles, but this is a shark's pond of it's own.

some numismatic trivia. Rare coins peaked in 1989....Some coins have dropped 80%, I like the slabbed walkers ( 1940 era walking liberty half dollars in a plastic slab with grade data on package) Some of the Walkers went for $400 in 1989, they are about $75 now.....coin chart...http://www.pcgs.com/coinindex/indexallgraph.chtml
