FWIW.......

Still, Morgan said it had an "attractive view" on the semiconductor industry since valuations have improved "significantly" while sequential revenue growth and expanding margins are seen driving the average chip stock higher over the next 12- to 18 months.

9:29AM Retail PC data indicates healthy back-to-school sales : Salomon Smith Barney says that U.S. retail PC back-to-school sales are actually tracking 5-10% above normal seasonal levels so far, indicating a healthy rebound despite all of the recent bad news from hardlines retailers. Separately, Prudential says that retail PC data still appears to be pointing towards a relatively healthy back-to-school season, suggesting PC vendors may have had higher channel inventory levels than previously thought; based on encouraging week-on-week and qtr-to-date trends, firm continues to believe the risk/reward on HPQ, GTW, and AAPL is favorable at current levels.

****Cramer Alert****

Apparently todays rise in NVLS is an end of month markup! Gee, I would never have guessed that a 15 cent rise(as of 11:49) could even be labeled a markup. This guy is an idiot beyond imagination.

Month-End Markup Party Starts Right on Time

Smells like markup to me. That's where the mutual funds come in and buy their biggest positions aggressively to move up their valuations.

This whole markup game started because of the intense review the media brings to the party, always looking for hot managers. It used to be a quarterly phenomenon, but as individuals got more vested, the markup business morphed into a month-end affair.
