Eric - Ed Tiedemann of Qualcomm Europe SARL recently (June 25) briefly summarized the 3GPP2 cdma2000 Release C (DV) enhancements that provide peak data rates of 3.09 Mbps in the forward link (451.2 kbps in the reverse) as new forward link channels for packet data.

Thanks. Note that I'd be willing to bet that those rates never apply near the border between two cells. The advantage of beam shaping and coding changes is that they get you closer to the Shannon rate even at the border of a cell.
