Who will rid me of this turbulent priest?
I think Henry the Second is not agood example,I seem to remember him having himself whipped in public as penetence for the death of his archbishop.
if you look to european history you will find religion an intregal part of politics well into the 18th century.
Infact most of the religious stuggles in europe had to do with kings wanting the controll of religion doctorine and church revenues and property in the national states hands for the benefit of the state as opposed to that of the pope.Dieu e mon droit,L'etat,c'est moi.
One question ,if one is a religious person what is exactly a nonreligious activity?I can think of only one, monetary policy.
