Yesterday I went to the 14th Annual DC Blues Festival at Carter Barron Amphitheater it was a free concert. It was billed as a tribute to John Jackson (http://www.alligator.com/artists/bio.cfm?ArtistID=042) who died in January. It did rain a little bit but never heavy or for long and we did have umbrellas. I arrived late and missed the opening act the DC Blues Society Band. At a separate area from the main stage I saw a "vocal demo/workshop" with Melanie Mason, then went to see The Nighthawks a DC area band that mixes different music styles. Next up was a group of people called "The Friends and Family of John Jackson". Walter Williams and Jay Summerer (who together are knows as "Little bit of Blues") Jeff Scott (the late John Jackson's nephew), Neil Harpe, and some woman who's name I can't remember and who wasn't listed on the program. After that came the Mary Shaver Band, and finally Cephas and Wiggins. The last two where the best of the night. I never was really in to the blues before but I might buy a CD by them.

After the I saw the Road to Perdition at the Upton theater and ate a late dinner at Pizzeria Unos.
