Oh Bill, nothing could be further from the truth. There is zero support for an invasion -- even in the US there is no consensus. There is no political cover developing for an invasion -- unless you are talking about 2004 or 2005.
cnn.com If we go in in the next six months we will be utterly alone on this one, and countries all over the world will denounce us. We are trying to use the UN as "political cover" but we don't want to talk to them or get support from the UN Security Council. Politically speaking, it is hard to remember anything so incompetent as the US handling of Iraq in the last year.

The speeches are meant to scare Saddam and make him allow westerners back in to look for gen-altered smallpox and nukes.. Whether it works or not I dont know.
