I just looked over my comments on Serge Schmemann's piece and noticed the biggest whopper of all, which, times being as they are, I had failed to notice. When the Al Aksa guy explains

Throughout the interview, the Aksa spokesman sought to explain that killing collaborators was not the policy of the group, that the collapse of the Palestinian Authority had imposed this task on them.

consider the nature of the job "imposed" on him -- killing collaborators with Israel, who are collaborating to stop terrorism. So if the PA were still functioning, it would be killing collaborators, right? Wasn't the original idea for the PA to be working against terrorists, not against Israel? You know, that Oslo stuff, the arrangement whereby Israel armed Arafat's men. One forgets. It has receded so far into the past. And of course Mr. Schmemann will make it seem so reasonable that the security services of the Palestinians should naturally have the job of killing anybody who works with Israel to stop terrorism.

They killed a 17 year-old girl this time.

But least the NYT reported it. I cannot find the story either at the BBC or Ananova. Incredible.

I have sent an email to both organizations asking why this is not a newsworthy item.

Palestinians' lovely custom of executing accused collaborators without trial. They killed a 17 year-old girl this time. (Think the Europeans who get so incensed when the US executes a prisoner will kick up a fuss? Nah)

Here are two Reuters articles which went through the German press:
