What do you think we're doing?

<<Victor: There was a global outpouring of support after Sept 11 and plenty of support for us to enter Afghanistan. I received calls from Muslims in Asia that I work with -- out of the blue -- expressing their sincere condolences. We squandered that support. >>

Not if you ask ordinary Muslims in Afghanistan. They were way oppressed. GST you are really out of it on this one. The Muslims in Asia whom you work with had nothing to gain and nothing to lose from Afghanistan.

Besides, when the lives of me and my family are in the balance - guess how much I care about condolences from Muslims in Asia .... ?

<< We should have and could have built a broad base of support to invade Iraq -- but we did not. It is a major screw-up. George Bush Sr. did it with flair. >>

You may be imformed that apart from the names, there are no similarities. Again, you fall prey to all the common media-driven pre/mis-conceptions. Such a shame.

<<George Bush Jr. sent Dick Cheney and he got his ass kicked. He got nowhere. And that is where we are now on "coalition building". If we go into Iraq -- and that could very well be what happens -- it will be on far less favorable terms than we could have had. Our military deserves better political leadership. >>

We don't need a coalition. We did not have any support in our huge success in Afghanistan, as you acknowledge by lack of argument. We can just do it in Iraq. And get on with it.

I'm suprised you are so disdainful of the Iraqi people, and misjudge them so. Do they not have human rights?? Typical US govt beurocrat (sp?) thinking, as you now claim to be one.
