No difficult problem is solved on the first try. If it could be solved on the first try, it wouldn't be difficult. Edison supposedly tried about 100 different substances before coming up with a material for the first electric lamp filaments.

And new technology may have to be developed that doesn't exist now. That was true of the space program.
